Meike Stoverock: A radical feminist vision of the future that’s disturbing

For those over 20, Emma Watson plays the iconic character of Hermione in the Harry Potter saga. For the younger generation, however, she has become a key figure in the feminist movement. In 2014, when her career seemed to have stalled, Watson turned her attention back to feminism, even delivering a speech before the UN at the age of 24 to encourage men to join the fight for gender equality.
Feminism according to Emma Watson
Watson defines feminism as the belief in equal rights and opportunities for men and women, advocating a vision of political, economic and social equality. She refutes the idea that feminism aims to favor women over men, pointing out that abandoning the toxicity of masculinity benefits men too.
The reality of feminism
However, the reality of feminism can be more complex. Some critics believe that behind the egalitarian rhetoric lie darker motives. German author Meike Stoverock, though little known in France, published a provocative book in 2021 entitled “The Female Choice on the Beginning and End of Male Civilization.”
Radical Vision by Meike Stoverock
Stoverock analyzes male-female relations from a biological rather than a cultural point of view. She argues that men and women have different reproductive strategies, resulting in “sexual conflict.” In her view, modern female emancipation is a reversion to selective choice of partners, sidelining 80% of men.
The Future According to Stoverock
Stoverock’s thesis may be seen as extreme, but it is based on a coherent analysis. She predicts a society where monogamy is destroyed, the romantic ideal is eliminated, and undesirable men are kept away from women. Stoverock proposes surprising solutions, such as the normalization of porn and the reimbursement of prostitution by health insurance.
Consequences and alternatives
Although Stoverock’s vision may seem dystopian, it raises pertinent questions about the evolution of feminism. Current statistics, such as the growing number of childless men in Norway, already reflect changes in gender relations. Some are looking for alternatives to give the 80% of men a social and personal value.

Meike Stoverock’s vision offers a provocative perspective on the future of male-female relations, but it also raises questions about the direction modern feminism is taking. As society evolves, it is essential to take into account different visions and work towards balanced solutions to promote gender equality.
